We are delighted to welcome John Irving Clarke The session will based on a theme of "Weather and The Seasons" John has written several books of poetry , short stories and a novel. A Creative writing workshop, opportunity for newcomers and old hands to be inspired by John's creative leadership. A selection of the work produced will be read around 3pm in The Showcase. A selection of the creative poems of the day will be published in a booklet. John will be reading some of his poems in The Showcase. John Irving Clarke John tutors an adult creative writing class, he visits schools and readers' groups for workshops and readings and recently completed a spell as a Creative Partner to Wakefield Council working with prisoners and asylum seekers. Co-organiser of the Red Shed Readings, he also organises the annual Red Shed Poetry Competition. John Irving Clarke has had poems published in several magazines including Smiths Knoll, Poetry Monthly, Cutting Teeth, Retort and most recently, Meniscus, the magazine of Canberra University School of Arts. His poetry for children has been anthologised by McMillan in One River Many Creeks, Read Me Out Loud and Read Me At School. In October 2013 he accepted an invitation from the Italian arts group, Margutte, to read at Poesia Senza Confini in Mondovi near Turin, and during this current year he has been working on the Leeds Lieder scheme. John has had short stories broadcast on BBC Radio Leeds and Sheffield and printed in Yorkshire Ridings magazine as well as Arctic Night, the publication which followed the Featherstone short story competition. The novel, Who the Hell is Ricky Bell? has been widely praised since its publication in 2014 and has picked up a number of five star reviews on Amazon.
